There are so many angles to this, it's near impossible to come to a consensus on an answer. But, I'll come from a purely psychological standpoint.
Hate stems from fear. And, fear stems from ignorance. Therefore, many people "hate" things--such as different cultures--because they don't understand them. A lot of times people have their own inner issues and use opportunities such as bigotry and hate to vent those issues. Many psychologists would agree that some guys repress their homosexuality. And, because of struggles with morals/expectations of society, lash out against it. In effect, these guys are self-loathing. I've seen countless, countless examples of "gay bashers" who later turned out to be gay themselves. Furthermore, if someone is a happy heterosexual, they should have no reason to actively hate, bash, or fear any other culture.
Also, this common statement of, "I have no problem with gay guys as long as they don't hit on me" is absurd. It's self-flattering. Do all str8 guys find ALL women attractive? No. So, assuming someone will hit on you just because they're gay is ridiculous.
In short, a person can be "anti gay" and not be gay. It just makes no sense either way.
