no one I know of who saw it at it's origins accepts what you're saying as truth.
that's the new "truth" perpetuated by an industry who's so greedy that they blur the lines of history to put their products on the same level as the puritins.
you don't have to buy into that. "Hip Hop or Rap" doesn't make [insert artist here] any less or more than they already are, it just gives you the proper name for their category in music so you don't say something innacurate in the presence of someone who knows the facts.
mushing everything together is a dissoving of history and to be honest discrediting one of them to a large degree.
as for lock's age, we don't know how old he is. I'm not gonna speculate what he might have or might not have experienced since his knowledge and perspective is that of an 'old head'. he could come out and say he's 14, or 40, it wouldn't change his knowledge, and that's what matters.
