They're not tellin you that seatbelt tickets is the most profitable ticket they can write you and it's impossible for you to fight it. 4¢ worth of paper makes em hundreds on the offense and you can't successfully fight it in court because...YOU HAVE NO WAY OF PROVING YOU WORE THE BELT!! And of course the cop's word holds more value than yours so you're guilty untill proven innocent. If you try to fight it, they'll get that "court fee" on you too.
Plead guilty and settle for the reduced offense so you can avoid the points and they'll be hittin you over the head again with a fine on top of that. So what's your options? none.

Ticket cost to them: 4¢.
Ticket costs to you: min $80 if you want to take the 3 points. Max $230 if you don't.

Yeah...way to "save a life".

If they wanted to save your life, they'd have those cops stopping real crimes and adressing real issues. not writing you a ticket over a cloth strap in your car.

i agree with the whole self-responsibility thing to an extent, but saying its not saving lives is bull-ish, if they can get more people to wear seatbelts then they WILL save lives in the end...
