The amendment to ban same sex marriages failed in the Senate this morning. I am not a proponent of same sex marriages, but I'm glad it didn't pass. I think the states should continue to do what they're doing, and that is to legislate whether or not gay couples can get married. Infusing bigotry into the constitution is just as dangerous as trying to re-write history itself.

Well, as it stands, gay marriage will remain legal in the U.S. in some states until the GOP raises this issue again to rally their base.
