Serb...don't worry about the Earth and how it regulates populations.

There's something called "boom and bust" and the "gaia" principle that dictates the world will ail for a while, but will balance itself out.

Example:

If you have an overpopulation of mice (boom) that'll attract more predators (another boom) which will cause the mouse population to decrease (bust). As the mouse population decreases, the predator population in that area will also begin to decrease (bust) because there's no more food.
^^^^The only time Earth can't naturally repair itself is when people do irreparable damage to it--e.g., paving over green areas to build parking lots.

Earth will be here long after we're gone. In fact, cockroaches will be here long after people man.
