Afrika Bambaata created "hip hop" and the term "hip hop" before there was even "hip hop music" and we were still spittin over disco beats (since there were no "hip hop beats") with lyrics from the voice of the people, people in the streets that wanted to make a difference and create change.

Sugar Hill Gang outta Englewood NJ did the first "clubby" type hip hop track with rappers delight, years after "hip hop" had already come into the world.
