I think we can all agree that biosciences will continue to advance for the forseeable future. A chief beneficiary of bioresearch will be large food processing and distribution companies. It is not wildly speculative to imagine a time when genetic material derived from animals will be used in plants for particular genotypic attributes, like increased protein and iron yield. My question is this, if a plant can grow tissue compositionally indistinguishable from that of an animal, could a consumer of the plant be a vegetarian?
