Everyone has their own way of writing, this is what I do and it's always worked for me.

When I start writing, I don't write lines or bars, I write concepts. The first thing I do is make a listing of concepts. Once I have a sufficient number, I figure out a punchline that goes to each concept. Then I add some random setup which at least sort of relates and flows. Then I put all the punches together and attempt to order them and thats my verse. Might take an extra 15 minutes doing it this way, but thats okay cuz it'll help u write.
