But the President's role in that system seems a bit redundant... It's as if you could take the President out of the picture and the government would still work in almost exactly the same way.

The President also serves as a check and balance because he can veto laws or bills that he feels would hinder the state of our country. However, a 2/3 majority vote could overturn a president's veto. He does serve a purpose, just most people overlook some of the good the position brings
