Im pretty sure they weren't started with the sole mindstate of protecting black people from white. I'm pretty sure they had some other plans when the gang was started, that's how it got to where it is after all. The leaders were ruthless killers. Tookie was a cold blooded murderer. I don't aggree that it was formed to protect black people only personally. A gang is a gang after all and gangs have always been associated with violence and crime
