first i know the songs about guns money and women are getting annoying but they are a neccesity (however you spell it) to the overall balance of hip hop and occasionally produce some good songs and new artist. its actually some artist that i view there lyrical ability as whack but still like because of the songs they make about guns and drugs. for example, plies sucks ass, but the nigga knows how to make good songs. i actually think that 08 may be his year. but you cant say hip hop is dead. everyone says that when what they dont want to hear is in the position of power. what hip hop started as is whats hurting, not really dead. a lot of different areas are finally getting there songs out there. i for one hate snap music, but if it weren't for snap music, you might stop hearing as many songs from artist such as talib kweli. in order for real artist to keep getting their financial backing from there labels, hip hop has to still flourish as a business. so in a way all this wack ass shit is whats keeping hip hop alive. plus its some great artis who wouldnt be spittin if it werent for these gimics. My personal favorite group out of well known people is The Re-up gang. they're some of the best lyricist out (even though The Clipse outshine the other two on almost every track). it people werent listening to music about drugs, you would cease to hear them.
^^^^ damn i wrote a lot. i understand if no one reads this. meant to start with a simple reply to his statement and just didnt stop typing
