First off make sure there is no moisture at all, otherwise you might aswell throw all your gear in a pool, from the top of a tower, thats on top of a cliff.


You can use any room you want, just pad the walls, blankets can even be better than nothing, get thick wool blankets and nail them to the wall, this will stop any reflections from noise creating natural reverb and unwanted doubled octaves.

It might also pay to position you rmic in the corner, pad the corner with a fuck load of thick blankets, then drap one across the corner, creating a ghetto booth. It will work though, I used to do it and it created a 'dead' space for your mic to pick up your vocals as natural as possible.
