An irritating buzz caused Mack to stir uncomfortably in his sheets as he glanced over to read an illuminated 6:00 on his alarm clock in the corner. His body was begging for a few extra minutes of sleep, but his mind knew that he’d have to shut the alarm off due to the state his mother came home in the previous night. As he walked across the cold apartment floor and switched the alarm off his mother let out a sigh of relief and clenched the comforter tighter before falling back asleep.
