the Land of Israel was 'destroyed' you so put it when other countries took up their land and eventually eradicated the country completely, but never removed the relatives to the area.

due to this constant strife and war is what led to modern Israel, which was not RECREATED in 1948, recreation is a far off term from simply establishing a modern day state of Israel.
