He wished upon a penny... that when he found he felt lucky
He wished not for cars or jewels, he wished not for money
He wished for happiness, to always have a smile
To be respected, not neglected as someones bastard child
He was poor as shit and felt alone living in his orphanage
Surviving off of tasteless food and poorage sips
He never felt the feeling of being adored and kissed
And the closer he got to it the more his heart was torn to bits
But something happened when a couple passed in, looking at him
They had to have him knowing his smile would be contagious to a parent
They grabbed him, signed the papers & decided not to be short with the love
The warmth of his new bed was nothing compared to the warmth of a hug
He wished not for cars or jewels, but to always have a smile
And now for once in his life he felt safe and was finally a happy child
He put the penny under his pillow so that it could be safe too
He wished upon a penny... and all of his wishes came true
