Sure, the plot isn't terrible (based off what you described, I don't know much about the film). The fact that they casted Zac Efron as the lead though blatantly shows the studios intentions. They're going to try and rake in the money off of his fan base and name alone, I doubt they're actually concerned about making a half decent film.

Then again, I could be totally wrong and it could end up being awesome. Wouldn't count on it though.
