Very grisly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isao_Inokuma

That's my fathers old friend, and a friend of mine too, Inokuma. He was the Michael Jordan of Judo, no one could put him on his knees let alone manage a good throw on him. When he walked down the streets in Tokyo, people used to stop and bow their head to him in honor.

He commited suicide by means of hara-kiri. Thrusted the blade into his abdomen and dragged it from one side to the other while watching his blood and guts spill out. Normally after doing this a samurai would have a trusted comrade cut their head off, but Inokuma had no one as they would be arrested for aiding in a suicide... Stabbing his abdomen didn't kill fast enough and he was still in pain so he slit his own throat... he still didn't die fast enough so he slit both of his wrists... finally he bled to death.

Wikipedia says it was because he suffered finacial losses from his company... yea.. he did, but that's not the reason. He owed the Russian mob a few million dollars that he didn't have anymore, and he knew it was either they would get to him or he could get to himself.

It's a damn shame and a tragedy, I used to idolise him. He is a true samurai in every sense of the word. He lived the way of the warrior and it lead him into heaven where he remains in the grace of the 7 Shinto Gods under the cool shade of a perfect cherry blossom.
