The Banana...

IP:

Make of this what you will...(!)...

Oh yellow curvy thing sitting upon the fridge
Oh how soft and supple you are up there
Nutritional and tasty yet so ready to eat
Born in bitter-sweet tropics from that lonely tree

Dropped but cushioned by rich moist sands
A rasta man looks at you with satisfied glee
For he shall eat with the green he makes
To the market he strolls smoking his plants..

Many sisters alongside you in his hands
Upon a lorry crate you are carefully placed
Through bumpy roads driven to a dusty airstrip
Where you take off to fly across oceans to land

As you touch down already the chill can be felt
Now in a wintery place where sun struggles to exist
To another market sheltered from rain you are driven
Warm yet so man-made you yearn for home

I approach looking for something to fill my diet
Freshness n cleanilness is required, you fit the bill
Standing out from the crowd without even trying
In the basket you go, to your new and last home

"Beep!" the checkout cries as you pass over it
You're just another, but in it's memory you shall remain
Into my plastic bag you go to be carried quickly by foot
Until i reach my hallway, where i place you to be seen

Early in the evening i come to get you in my grasp
To munch into energy but you slip to my dismay
Once so ripe and enticing to gobble n devour
Now bruised n unedible you've fallen from grace

To one side you are placed
Before opening the cupboard...
And grabbing another yellow one...
For hunger makes feelings void...
