Because the people walk around with backpacks on containing a notebook of their own shit, a sampler CD of their own shit, etc etc etc etc. And since they listened to the underground, the more intellectual Hip-Hop, and not the gangsta bullshit, anyone that listens to that type of music now is automatically a backpacker.
