well i have flstudio 4 pro edition,,i find it easier to make a pattern outta sounds say for instance you want to sample some shit off of some jazz artest or motown samples,i just get my music samples,putt'em up in the fruity slicer cut up the sounds i want,put theam in a pattern thean boom you got your sound,
thean what you want to do is find yourself a nice sounding kick drum,snare and hihat,mix the drums perfectly with the sounds in tempo you got yourself an off the hook beat son,,so try that it works best for me...peace
