Truthfully, I think Tupac and Biggie play the role of Hip-Hop martyrs. Use a modern-day reference: religious martyrs. . The names of the "martyrs" who organized and initiated the terroristic attacks on America were well-known before September of 2001. But now, they are revered as the utmost heroic people in the world of Islam. . Doesn't that metaphor corrolate with the Biggie and Tupac story?

As far as naming a consensus "greatest of all time," I am always surprised at the levels people will go to in these threads to get their points across. . When people like G. and Recca can argue these issues point-for-point, it's obvious that they "live hip-hop," as G. Buttersworth so delicately put it.

I am not well-learned in the underground aspect of hip-hop, to tell you the truth. . But from what I've heard, I like BlackStar more than anybody else in the industry.
