.....Let me confess somethig first, I'm a recovering backpacker
I was into that sceen back around 97,98, 99. During the Master P, Bad Boy era and I wasn't into that shit at all. Around that time that Mos Def, Talib, Common, Eminem, Canibus, even Wu-Tang in some regards where concidered 'backpack' becase they were agiast the norm and had lyrics. But that whole era done past and it was like a phase, most of the artist I mentioned ain't into that no more and I just grew out of that shit. After those guys left it started to get corney than a mu'fucka, just pussyfied with a whole buncha nerds babling on. And musicly that shit had no type of rhythem or bounce to it and was just boring. And after people like Jay-Z started to come to the forfront and the mainstream guys startd to get right with the lyrics it started to get better..I can't fuck with that backpack shit no more.
