WHY DO YOU THINK GANGSTER RAP IS STILL HERE? It will be here as long as we have gangsters. You can’t relate because you don’t get down like that, but it’s cool, just don’t hate on something you don’t know about. You think niggaz out here killin each other cause they tuff…huh you don’t know the half….

Hip-Hop, was formed through poor black culture, through Graffiti, Rapping, Dancing, DJing. Now throughout the years hip-hop has grown into incredible heights. You see it in every thing, from commercials to clothes, to TV shows. But the roots are in the poor ghetto…the people who created this expression... to take their minds off of daily oppression. It’s disrespect to take from that culture and not give anything back, and it actually makes US feel that you clownin us. We set trends, styles, slang, not cause we want to, it’s our culture, it’s because the result of other things. For example: People walk around with their pants saggin. Do you think one day somebody was like “hey I think it’ll be cool to wear my pants like this”. No, that shit came from niggas getting’ locked up, and whoever’s been locked up before, knows they take your shoestrings and belts. So yeah your pant’s sag. Or maybe you couldn’t afford to buy a belt, maybe you have to share your pant’s with your older brother. Maybe his extra large t-shirt is baggy on you.
So you see, so when we see white guy “acting black”, it’s like a slap in the face to us. Here we are struggling with prejudice, doing illegal shit to survive; and here you come mocking us, and not doing it right. It fuckin burns me up, that a white person would forsake his privileges, his opportunities to act like something he’s not. But they don’t, and that’s my problem. They do their thing, until moms shows up, cause they don’t approve of him acting “foolish”.
This is not a game, or something to just pass the time for a lot of us on here. I think everybody should rap if their serious, man I like this site. A lot of these text cat’s need to open their eyes.

I mean how would a Jewish person feel, if you came in rockin’ a yamica, talking about havin a barmitzfa tonight at the crib, and they ain’t even Jewish!

i disagree for the most part of what this cat is saying.

1. what nowadays constitutes as gangster rap has evolved, and i would hardly refer to it as "gangster"
2. do you know what it means to sag your pants? it's not because those growing up in the ghetto had to wear their big bro's pants, it started in prison and not because you don't have belts. Inmates who were *ahem* "available" sagged there pants as a sign, and after being released continued with the fad.
3. I'm with kgm, How can someone act black or act any color for that matter. because I eat a carne asada burrito does that mean I'm acting mexican? and if you're rockin skater shoes, you must be acting white. how narrow minded is it to think you can only act the stereotype you fall under. what about us mixed folks? are we suppose to act mixed? growing up I was never african american enough nor was I islander enough, so how should I act?
4. everyone struggles with prejudice now a days. don't act so suppressed. and this site is guilty of prejudice, all the cats who talk shit about peoples pic, and I'm sure you're one of them.
5. "doing illegal shit to survive, and these cats are not even doing it right"... so your saying if a white guy "acting black" would involve in illegal activity, he be doing it right? way to bring the culture down.
6. I quit spitting for awhile and only now am I getting back into it. I came on here because it's a pastime for me, I'm not serious. This is a good way to express and develop, but those cats who are serious, wouldn't be on here, they would be in the studio or doing shows.

sorry to flood the thread with such a long post, but I had to state my opinion.
