When we mean "Well known" we talking about household name or pretty close to it....WHen you on the radio/ TV all day long and you reach pop star like status....Not somebody who sell 100, 000 units and just a core fan base of 100 cats in a couple of states

UGK...shit, look at they name, Under Ground KIngs..they conciderd underground but they not backpackers at all.....

Talib Kweli is or close to a backpacker type and he's looked at as commercial...

You can even be the same person and be both..DJs pull it off better than anybody..Look at DJ Clue for example...He's well known, host a MTV show and all that, thats commercial...but his street mixtapes are underground..they not accesable to the mainstream..

Backpacker don't equal Underground...it just so happen that alot of backpacker are...becasue don't nobody outside they fan base know who they are....Lil Flip up until last year was underground, and he's the farthest thing from backpack you can imagine
