Anyway, it's a fine piece of poetry. Whoever did it. Very profound for an 11 year old. Especially such lines as

Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Which makes it seem (emphasis on seem) like it was done by an older person.
