Racism
1. To hold a belief that one race is surperior to another
2. To express violent and hateful views on another race.
3. To discriminate and limit a person by his or her race.
Eminem has never done any of these besides on that track from 1993 - where indeed, he does make very racist remarks, and I listen to Eminem, and I'm not afraid to say that. But haven't you heard of "saying things you don't mean"? Anyone who says that they haven't said something they don't mean out of youth or anger, whether it be racist or not, is a FUCKING LIAR. Anyone who says that they've never possessed racist thoughts or even expressed them, is a FUCKING LIAR. I can say that one time when I was cut off by an Asian driver, I thought to myself "that bloody Asian". I regretted this immediately, and was stunned at myself. But I've learnt from that just as Eminem has with this situation - he's never recorded a racist word after that.
"Let's do that math, if I was black I would've sold half" - how the fuck is that racist? He's saying that if he was black he wouldn't have as big a fanbase since if he's white, more white kids listen. And there are more white kids that buy rap albums than black kids. So that statement is simply the truth.
"I'll drink malt liquor to fuck you up quicker than you'd wanna fuck me up for sayin' the word nigga" - this is not racist. If he said nigga, everyone would be on his back trying to rip him a new asshole. As they are doing now with black comments. What he said, in general has come true. Once again, he's speaking the truth. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't actually say "nigga". He cuts it out - that's the whole fucking point of the bar.
Racism is an act of hate towards to another race. I do not deny Eminem did this - he did - in 1993. He said somethin' he obviously didn't mean, and his prediction came true - he knew if he ever said anything about black people he would be hated on. As you can see, you played right into his hands. I knew all you "White boys can't rap, white rappers are trying to be black, hip hop is a black game" would love to see more excuses to hate on a successful white rapper. Aesop Rock, Copywrite, Cage (who says "nigga"), Necro etc. could've just as easily said something like this, but why aren't you attacking them? Because they aren't successful, therefore you already think that they've been exacted a fitting punishment - not much success in the rap game. I don't see anyone attacking Jin for being a Chinese rapper, even though he uses the same "self-racially degradory" manner of comedy and expression Eminem does, only he says it about Asians not whites.
And yes, I am white. I do enjoy Eminem's music very much. But he isn't even my favourite rapper, and I did NOT start listening to hip-hop when he came along. I recognise and respect it as a black art form, and it will always remain a black art form. But that's not to say that only black people can practise it - that would be stupid. If the world worked on "what blacks are allowed to do" or "what whites are allowed to do", no one would have racial justice beyond the stereotypes that were associated with them all through their existence. Hip-hop is universal; it is about expressing your emotions, making good music, and bringing joy to fans. Not about how your colour influences on what you can and cannot say. True hip-hop fans will respect any music in hip-hop, as long as it's good. And everyone who thinks about human nature will realize that we are all the same; and we all make mistakes in our youth and during anger. The only way to move on is to forgive and forget, before any real damage is done. And Eminem has not caused any damage at all.
I thought most people would be able to realise that.
