Look, I saw the tape. Basically the cops were there because he passed out in front of a restaurant. They come, he starts to get aggressive and takes a swing at one of the officers. That officer is knocked off balance, his partner jumps in with his stick, about 3 seconds and two jabs later, the man is down. The cop stands over him for a good amount of time, plenty of time to slap cuffs on him and charge him with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and carrying whatever amount of drugs he had on him. Yet he just stands over the downed man and then continues to beat him. His partner jumps in and starts beating him. Another cruiser rolls in and two more cops jump out and start beating on him with their sticks.

Right when the beating resumed after he stood over the downed man, that is when self defense or any other justification went right out of the window.

Of course the man was grabbing the sticks, he was trying to stop them from beating him. You would do they same thing, and probably have done the same thing if you ever got beat with something. For the argument of him trying to stand up, he was tripped out on so many drugs that he didn't understand anything. The cops might as well have been beating a retarded man. That guy wasn't processing anything correctly.

This was excessive force. I have two uncles and a cousin that are cops. And I'm sure that they would say this is excessive force as well.

They could have buckled his knee by just taking a foot and pressing in the back of his knee so his leg collapsed. They could have mased him quickly. Not beat the living shit out of him for 10 minutes or so.
