And yeah, some of the 'newbies' do come straight into it with so much. But that's probably cos poetry is more 'free' than open mic (yes, i used to do open mic and rap, so it's not based on ignorance). And it's also in a way, simpler and easier to grasp.

Open mic can at times be a more complex 'branch' of poetry. Depending on which way you look at it. And of course, you learn a bit about how to write poetry n what not at school (i think). Whilst 'open mic' isn't.

Though once again, both can go hand in hand too.
