Im Going Back To Jail .... Why?
A month after release, Doing nothing but rapping to beats
I've had a rough decade just for strapping some heat
Parole hounding me to get a job, Easier said than done
All this stress quickly suffocating my chest and lungs
Plus my rent is due in a week, Only got lint in my jeans
So i gotta make it the dirty way, By hitting the streets
Catch a couple of licks, Just enough to get my head straight
Without hustling, My life would be compared to dead weight
I knew i should have stopped doing it, But i couldnt help it
Was it possible to make money legally? Am i this selfish?
But one day my life changed, I didnt think i'd hear it ever again
The same knock that landed me in prison for a seven to ten
The voice came louder than the pounding, "We know youre home"
As a sense of uneasiness and paraylsis straddled my bones
I clambered from the sofa, Not exactly sure of what to do
As the voice bellowed again, "I wouldnt run if i was you"
Sure i would be a goner if i bolted, I cracked the door open
And within a few seconds, I fell to the ground choking
"Put your hands on your head, Dont make a dumb move"
So i sat there motionless, As my home they ran through
The Feds tore my shit apart, All i worked for in every way
And it didnt matter what they found, I was done anyway
A violation of parole, Plus they found every ounce i had
My familys disowned me, I was already denounced as dad
Another man had tooken over, Now im known as a stranger
And back to prison i go, Right into the drone of danger
The interrogation room was dark and damp, slighty putrid
As the Feds shoved me around, Asking why i would do it
But i had no answer, There was an eerie silence in my mind
As i realized this was 3 strikes, no more free chances this time
With nothing to say or do, I sat there with tears in my eyes
With only one question left unanswered i just wondered why?
