The CO1U serves its purpose...If he's on a budget and doesn't want to cop a pre amp, then it's very flexible. It's also a good mic for people with lap tops.
Are there better mics? Of course...dude could spend upwards of 10,000 on recording equipment. It's all in what he wants to do. If he's doing what most people on RV are doing, then the C01u is good enough.
