get a nice soundcard, and a nice condensor mic...

cheap but affective shit...

Hardware:

RODE NT1 Condensor Mic...about $200
SoundBlaster Live Soundcard...about $50
Behringer Eurorack UB1002 Mixer...about $60
(^Comes with phantom power for your mic)

Software: (Downlaod These)

Cool Edit Pro 2.0
^^Make sure the register key comes with the download, heres the information to use when you register the program:

Antares Mic Modeler

That list should suffice pretty well. The rest is up to your ears...

In cool edit...do this technique to your vocals:

1. record
2. normalize to 95% (not decibles, use percentages)
3. parametric equalizer (mess around with it till you gtet clear vocals)
4. noise reduction
5. dynamics processing; very fast attack, 4:1, -24db
6. normalize to 100%

That should help you out until you get the cash to go all out and get a pro studio in yuor basement.
