You need an actual sound card. If you have a stock coputer chances are it has a sound chip and not actually card. So check that first

go to preferences and choose THE SOUND CARD that is installed in your computer...then it should work...most sound cards are advanced enough to work with every program that is popular...it wouldnt be wise for either party to neglect that...
and installing a sound card is easy open up your CPU u'll find 4 to 6 open slots in the back (where you phone and LAN jack is) u'll find an empty slot there simply pop the sound card in (with the power off) and then start up your computer your computer's plug and play feature will detect the new hardware and ask u to install the drivers throw the supplied CD that came with the sound card and choose the CD drive to search for drivers the computer will find the drivers and VOILA...ur sound card is ready simple... |

^^^the only time u would have to fuck wit the cables is if ur usin "rewire"...just like real life...if it aint broke, dont touch it
but the problem should be just that u need to set up ur audio in the preferences...u'll be good after that... |
