All I see around me is war, children fighting for their life Everyone dreams of an utopia, without this terrifying strife A place to call my home sweet home is what I am seeking for A country where I have to seize the moment and finally soar Running from my misery, in desperate need of second chances Keep trying through hard work, not the make-up that enhances Many flee towards neighbouring countries but what's the use? Not enough jobs nor space for us but they have blurred views Vision is hazy due to darkred blood splattering in their eyes Fantasies taking over, slowly getting caught up in web of lies . . . Now I believe I found this promised land of milk and honey People so open-minded and friendly, weather is always sunny Because of my language knowledge I managed to build a career Stable situation, could easily overcome obstacles that appear Patriotic yet caring spirit combined with a competitive mind Freedom at last, gone is the need for a blind to hide behind Realize I'm lucky as one of the few living the American dream No more suppression, first thing I learned here was self esteem Can finally gaze in the mirror and be truly proud of who I am Trust in our Stars and Stripes, attracted by glitter and glam . . . 2 years later, the rush has faded away and reality now came No boundaries to the war game but I was too blinded by fame Couldn't see the problems that even America had to deal with Been a fool to believe I found peace, guess it's just a myth War became top priority instead of healthcare and education Which will eventually be the demise of this powerful nation But my love for America though will never know its downfall Because here I did get the chance to climb instead of crawl My future starts getting darker, captured by sense of despair Never assumed my one ultimate dream would become a nightmare
