~::Collabo Mixing Technique::~

IP: C546 9520

***THIS MAY APPLY FOR ANYONE TO READ***

Okay this is how to brake down the mixing technique for collabo joints (which people will always come up with a newer and better way, but oh well).

Step 1.
You pick a list of order in which the people spitting are going first to last. Usually a person who can record early goes first, but has to be well skilled.

Step 2.
The first person to record will record a single track, the base track. If you mess up and have multiple tracks, thats alright, you just need to combine them into one track to make it simpler for the person producing the track. Your base track will consist of you, spitting all the lines straight.

Step 3.
In step 3 you are going to do a back-up track (if you dont need one or you dont want to do one, then this doesn't apply to you). This track if any of you dont know, will help emphasis on words, lines, etc. You may record multiple back-up tracks, but you must combine them into one track. Though, if you have 'aid-libs' (tracks that consist of you saying idiotic things, or anything where you record something where it is not lines from your verses), you may make another track for this.

So now you should have a maximum of 3 tracks, a base track consisiting of all your lines straight, a back-up track to further emphasis words and lines (which is optional but highly recommended), and a aid-lib track for goofing off and so on (very optional).

Step 4.
After you record all 3 of your tracks, you send them all to the producer (individually or combined in a winzip file or so on). The producer will mix a rough, quick copy of them for the next person to hear. This rough copy will be sent to the next artist to know where her comes in. He records his tracks (same as shown from Step 2. to Step 3.). It is optional, but a very useful technique to make the track have a more appealing sound by the next rapper to throw in a "uh", or "yo", whatever your thing is near the end of the last person "spitting" into yours. This adds "hypeness" to the track. Another technique is to not say anything and bust in rapping right after the rapper before you was rapping.

This is a basic outline of what is needed, to make a decent collabo track, for the producer to mix. If there is anything that I have seemed to left out, or confusing, just drop a thought and I will edit my post.

5 mins.. and how many rappers we got on there... it probably gonna be like 30 seconds to 45 seconds a rapper... good enough time. Just all need to write a good verse, try hard, try and work on delivery/emotion if your not the best at it (like myself, i'm in elevation on it).

Holla at me wit more questions if anyone has any...
