This is to a friend who died recently... I wrote this for his epilogue

" A Friend, A Roommate, The One Person Who Knew Who I Really Was"


A coat hung by the door, shoes I thought I'd never have to fill
and it's seems more and more, that I hear your laughter still
we expected too much, put strain on the most weathered of bones
now they shed tears of remembrance, when they're alone
it's not much and I know, but your shoes are too small for my feet
but I feel like I'm drowning in them up to my teeth
struggling to breathe, no one there that knows me man
God why, Oh why, did you take away my friend?
you met a fateful end, but let your legacy survive you
noone can ever replace you, and I'd never try to
used to feel that i'd been lied to, your death wasnt meant to be
except this as an apology, written, in your memory
Now the halls are empty, save for the whisper of ghosts
The more I remember the sounds, the more crisper the notes
this is an oathe- I pledge my youth, to assume the soles you stand on
I'm in my early 20's but your son really needs a grandpa.......
So when I remember you this day, I throw up a hand
I may wear his shoes but I'm a mere shadow of the man
