It's like the presence on the mic...gotta sound confident, fits the song, etc...

Pretty easy.

Rapping with a purpose and showing passion for what ya saying on the mic...

It aint just about ajusting your voice either... Its about writing lyrics in a certain way about something you really believe in and getting your message across making people actually 'feel' what ya sayin...

Some songs need it, some dont... Just depends..

Thats what I recon it is anyway......

you can still put emotion in a track even if you got a sleepy style... It's just basically the opposite of being monotonous... Even if it's slight, you can tell from your tone that you feel what you say. word.

emotion and mic prescence are pretty much the same

to me it's all about changing the inflections in your voice on certain words to emphasiZe them more, or making certain words longer than they'd usually be when you just speak them...it's not being louder at certain points, cuz some people confuse emotion with just being loud and plain out obnoxious on a track...

you can't just say a line "harder" cuz you want people to feel it, make your track sound kinda like how you talk cuz I'm pretty sure you don't walk around sounding like the dude on the Clear Eyes commercial...make it a point to listen to how people say certain things when they're talking, how they emphasiZe certain words in the sentence and what-not, do the same thing when you rap

to me the rapper that best embodies "emotion" on tracks is probably Ludacris, he just over does it, but that's his own niche and style...a rapper that ALWAYS had just the right emotion was Tupac, that's why people listen to him as much as they do...cuz what he said, he said in a way that made you really want to listen and feel it, plus the way he wrote things, you could visualiZe it happening in front of you...that mixed with his vocal emotion and mic prescence made him the huge music (not just rap) icon he is today

Honestly, my main criticism a year ago was that I lacked "emotion". I've seemed to have corrected that for the most part. Emotion to me means being expressive with your voice on track depending on what type of track you're doing. If it's a bragging or diss track, then your voice should reflect confidence and/or anger to some degree. If you're doing a love song, then your voice should reflect caring and softness, sounding almost tender when you deliver some of the rhyming words. If you're doing a personal song about your life and you are sad, then your voice should reflect that in the way you inflect the pitch in the rhyming words. Emotion ISN'T, however, sounding like you have A.D.H.D. on track or like you're about to hyperventillate.

So, emotion = expressiveness with your voice dependent on the type of track.

thats what I was looking for, yea I know now. emotion is important if this is emotion because like if you have no confidents to the diss you made then it'll sound like you could careless.

Now look at George Bush, whenever he says "I'm going to help", people instantly say "Yeah, right", the reason why people say that is because he don't even believe what he says, when he says a speech everything is wrong because he don't believe he can do what he says...

Therefor if you believe what you say you can actualy do it...
Speech is a very, very powerful tool...

When i make a good song, i know it's gonna be good, 'cause i say, "I'mma make a dope song, it's gonna be sick", and 9 times outta 10 it will be, due to the fact that i persuaded my brain that i was gonna make a good song...and that sometimes pushes you to do better songs...
And if i make a song, i review it and say, "well this could've been better and i could've improved on this", and the feedback i get is almost identical to the feedback i give myself, so i improve by giving myself feedback and improving immediately...

STFU, u never have made a good song, u suck donkey nuts, plain n simple, u have no idea what ur talkin about.

emotion is basically puttin ur feelings into sound, for example, if ur feelin down cos of shit goin on around u n u do a song, u wanna sound like ur actualy down/un-happy, so u not only expresse it in ur words, but u also expresse it in the way that u spit, if ur doin a diss, u want to make them out to be wack and u better than them, so u got to sound real cocky n have sum kinda aggression in ur voice.... if u do a track thats sorta comedic, then u wanna sound light hearted n sumwhat jokey... basically its just making ur voice fit the lyrics ur spittin, but at the same time u need to be confident and sound confident in order to do this and put the right emphasis on the right words, it takes alot practice to do properly, but when nailed, makes a song ten times better

paranoid has a good point. Industrial emcees don't have to use emotion but thats all based on the quality of their equipment. shitty equipment you'll need to put emotion because it won't be amped. and depending on the microphone if it sounds muffled or not. As if you were in the studio you can mumble your shit and it'd be clear. just look at the whisper song.
