Well Me and some otha dude got in an argument with this kid on another site about hip hop. The kid commented by saying how D4L was whack. and there is no doubt that they have some whack music out, But he said they were whack. and that what they did wasnt hip hop.

But last I checked Hip Hop=4 elements=Rap,dj'n,breaking,graffiti. BUT even if you dont take part in any of those elements but still have love for them in a certain aspect then that still makes you hip hop.

which in fact means..that since d4l raps.then they are hip hop. no matter the talent or lyrics the fact is that they rap and they are hip hop.AND because the lifestyle they lead is of hip hop mannor.. the clothes..the way they talk..and the way they carry themselves.

Kid was all on some confused shit and not understanding that Hip hop is the way we live and rap is what some of us do. so he rambled on and on about how d4l wasnt rappers.. But I wanted to know where he got the right to strip someone of hip hop. what makes him more of a rapper than d4l? talent? no. if anybody thinks talent is the only thing that justifies the title rapper then they are dumb.

these days alot of so called "rap" is not hip hop.

Hip hop is about respecting the culture, its not about the money the fame.
its about speaking out and giving youth a correct path to follow.
Most sold out radio rap isnt hip hop. I feel rap music within the hip hop community is rap, rap musis within the mainstream pop music community isnt hip hop.

A)Rap
B)graff
C)Dj
D)break dance.

you cant say certain things arent hip hop just because its not fancied by you. u feel me? It might not be anything you like...or anything of your style but its still hip hop because this person you dont want to claim as a rapper or being part of hip hop still infact RAPS. which is part of hip hop which means they take part in the hip hop culture.

i dont know ..its just really simple to me. but ALOT of people look at it in a more difficult way and want to criticize and strip others from being hip hop just because its not they style of music or just because the lyrics arent up to par.

its not about disrespecting hip hop. i believe those who disrespect hip hop are those who tell others participating in hip hop that THEY arent hip hop because they arent as talented.

I think D4L is a joke on their best day. What they make is barely "rap", and only because it speaks in rhyme over a beat. To call THAT hip hop when you got lyrical gods like KRS, The old Jay-Z, Nas, Rakim, PE, Tribe, Wu... shit... to call what D4L does "hip hop"...is slandering hip hop.

saying D4L is Hip Hop is the same as saying a drag queen is a woman because he dresses like one, or rubbing alchohol is an alchoholic beverage because it contains alchohol.

You'd have to have either low standards or improper education to put those things in the same category.

nah cuz we all know drag queens are men. at the end of the day they are STILL men. D4L are rappers..at the end of the day..hip hop includes rapping ..in which they do.

these are the words of someoen who's dilluted as to what "hip hop" is, like I was just describing.

this is like saying "who are we to say what our "rights" are". When someone keeps eroding them, you lose the vivid guidelines of what your rights really are. before you know it, you have none.

here's a rule of thumb to weed out what's hip hop and what's not.


All "rappers" in the mainstream live in a world where they see, with their own two eyes, a fucked up world essentially. Yet with aaaalllll the claimed writing skills and all the power that they have as a speaker, all you hear them rap about is "look how cool I am" "look at what I own" "yo I'm in the club where the dumb bitches are". They're "rappers". They speak in rhyme over a beat and chose their subjects based on "what topics make me the most money".

they cut out aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lllllllll the other facets of their life they see and deal with every single day in favor of what's profitable and images to support that.

Hip Hop on the other hand, gets involved in these other issues and shows you the entire picture. Hip Hop isn't scared to not act tough. Hip Hops not scared to say "I loved being a little kid, I don't like that I have to pay taxes for shit I don't agree with, I bleed, I breathe, I think, I feel, I'm alive".

Things like that which shows the humanity of a person are considered soft or taboo in "Rap". and besides...it's not as marketable as Puppet Rapper A rappin about his gold chain and flappin his arms talkin about how thugged out he is.


BTW "Hip Hop" has absolutely NOTHING to do with talent level.

I'm not saying D4L isn't Hip Hop because they're wack on the mic, what they're doing isn't Hip Hop because of the CATEGORY OF MUSIC its in. Makes no difference how they spit it.
