What a bullshit law looks like.

IP: 2977 80E3

This resurgance of the "click it or ticket" campaign. I wear one every time I'm in a car, but the crucifiction of people who don't wear their seatbelt is savage to say the least. They're pouring the commercials in through your TV's too, like "Cops write seatbelt tickets to save lives" to make you think it's in your best interest. They're not tellin you that seatbelt tickets is the most profitable ticket they can write you and it's impossible for you to fight it. 4¢ worth of paper makes em hundreds on the offense and you can't successfully fight it in court because...YOU HAVE NO WAY OF PROVING YOU WORE THE BELT!! And of course the cop's word holds more value than yours so you're guilty untill proven innocent. If you try to fight it, they'll get that "court fee" on you too.
Plead guilty and settle for the reduced offense so you can avoid the points and they'll be hittin you over the head again with a fine on top of that. So what's your options? none.

Ticket cost to them: 4¢.
Ticket costs to you: min $80 if you want to take the 3 points. Max $230 if you don't.

Yeah...way to "save a life".

If they wanted to save your life, they'd have those cops stopping real crimes and adressing real issues. not writing you a ticket over a cloth strap in your car.

In Australia, seatbelts are compulsory.

It reduces road related deaths man...

I understand what you mean though, like, if you WERE wearing it and some cop pulled you up saying you werent and handed you a ticket, what can you do about it? Nothing.

^I agree, seat belts do save lives, which is why I always wear mine. but to make it mandatory that you have to wear it is assinine. Cops exceed the speed limit and weave between traffic to catch up to you. that endangers more lives than you CHOSING not to wear a seat belt.

The testicular cancer cops were getting from the radar guns EMI emissions endangers more lives than you not wearing a seat belt.

the problem with the gas tanks in the crown vics catching on fire endangers more lives than you not wearing your seat belt.

The criminals that are running around while you're pulled over on the shoulder endanger more lives than you not wearing your seat belt.

you see, if they were really concerned with saving your life, they wouldn't be writing you tickets, they'd be putting those cops out to prevent crimes. All the REAL problems actaully cost money to solve, where as making up a fake problem and ticketing you for it MAKES money.

A red flag goes off in my head when the gov is making their tips on how you live your life into laws to fine you out the ass.

If "saving your life" were something more than a catch phrase to them, they wouldn't be putting flouride (a known poison) and chlorine (aka "bleach" - another known poison) in your tap water and telling you it's okay to drink it. they wouldn't be letting pharmaceutical companies pump out chemicals and pills that have known lethal side effects. They wouldn't be building cell phone antennas that fire radiation through your body 24/7 then pretend to not know why we have a cancer epidmeic. they wouldnt' be turning their head while the fast food giants that paid them off are putting addictive chemicals and flavored poisons in your #1 w/cheese.

they don't care about your health man. they get paid too much by NOT caring.

You were making since til you wrote this long ass post. Just sum shit up. We're on the internet to relax and have a good time, not read and shit! I'm not saying what you wrote is unimportant, just try to refrain from long ass post. And maybe your conversation will seem more valuable to your readers.

this IS the summed up version!!! sorry, I don't "stupify" the issues for the convenience of a lazy mind or someone who "reads for fun". I'm not posting info about your laws for "fun". laws and the economics of them is a complex thing, you can't whittle that down into one sentence and still do the topic any justice.

stop making excuses for your mind being lazy and under-used.

i agree with the whole self-responsibility thing to an extent, but saying its not saving lives is bull-ish, if they can get more people to wear seatbelts then they WILL save lives in the end...

what ticket? I never got a seatbelt ticket in my life and always wear mine.

like I said, it's someone's personal decision whether they want to wear one or not. making it illegal to drive without a seat belt is just as wrong as making it illegal to swim without a life jacket or have sex without a condom.

yea my dad was in a car crash where the car rolled over and the whole roof of the car caved in my dad saw it coming and ducked down, he wasnt wearing a seatbelt but thats what saved his life..even the officer himself said that if he was wearing a seatbelt he wouldnt be alive today cuz his whole upper half of his body would be smashed ta shit....so in this case a seatbelt wouldnt of saved no one's life
so yea seatbelts aint the safest thing ever
and on school buses they have other people's kids thats like in 1st grade through senior year in bus seats with NO seatbelts ta even put on..yet you cant get away with it in a car under ur own responsibilty????
they say that if they put seatbelts on school buses that it risks more of a chance of u hitting ur head on the seat in front of u and causing brain damage but cant they just spread the seats farther apart so u cant hit ur head and put seatbelts on there???
too me the whole system is just fucked up
