What's the difference between a friend and a girlfriend/boyfriend? I never really understood how any of it works. Is it how you behave around them? Is it just the title? If it's the sexual input isn't the term "friends with benefits" completly retarded? I'm assuming it's similar to giving someone the title best friend, only on a more intimate level. I'm guessing the rules of a relationship need to be there or the line between friend and lover isn't even there. Everyone's take?

Well basically a girlfriend vs. a girl friend is like this. A girlfriend is the one who you like/love and are attracted to, that's the one where if any sexual contact goes down, it's with them. You have a commitment to that girl in that you are supposed to only do anything sexual with her. A girl friend is a girl, whos your friend, and you guys talk and shit, no sexual activity (ie kissing, fucking etc) UNLESS it's friends with benefits, but in that case there aren't commitments.
