Remixes and renditions are bogus unless you've put out at least 2-3 albums of your own material prior.

I can't fucking stand when a group's first release is a remix or a cover of an already well known song. It's such a weak ploy to get noticed, it's bullshit really.

What I'm trying to say is that people should write their own songs. Like Miles Davis said: "Don't play what's there, play what's not there."

If a group approached me to do a remix of a song that I had made, the song had better be at least 10 years old and that group better have been around for a few years and have at least 25 of their own songs produced and out there.

I'd probably still be bummed and say no unless I really respected the group or the remix.

If someone did a remix to one of my joints.... i dont know how id feel about it to be honest.... i mean .... immitation is the best form of flattery ... but at the same time... id be a lil miffed at that shit .... cuz they aint nothing like an original.... but.... id have to have it happen to give you my honest feelings on the matter.

Yeah cuz someone took one of my beats from a song I performed at the college. Because someone did the remix to The Usual suspect on my page . he gave props and all and the added verse was nice. It just kind of urked me that he just didn't ask first. Always open to do songs with new people and dont mind doing remixes. Just Ask da kid. Like i dont want to work with anybody that dont have the balls to stand up for themselves and talk charge of their life and work.

i would think it be disrespectful to selfishly put yourself on the same track as someone without any concern of that artist's opinion of your sound (if they even are aware of any of your shit) i think you should get the persons permission due to their opinion of you.

just like how all these new remixes are coming out with people like 2pac and biggie and all. people are trying to put their own edge on something thats not there's, not outta respect for the person they're collabrating with but for the fame it gives THEM. its not even so much about what 2pacs or biggies opinion would be but because of the real reason why these people are polluting these people's songs with their shit
