Army of Ten Reaches 70,000 Total Word Count

IP: CF7E 039A

Whether you care or not is entirely up to you.

For those who are curious about how my writing is going there you have it. I am working on chapter seventeen, and a long way to go.

I estimate the final word count being 160,000 or higher, making it longer than The Fellowship of the Ring.

So yeah. I know Zone Out is the only one who has read any of it on here and he thought it was nuts.

no offence, but it doesn't matter if it ends up being longer than the fellowship of the ring because it doesn't take a genius to realise that quality outweighs quantity every time.

not meaning to bring you down but at the same time it's the wrong way to look at things in terms of creative work.

but all the best with this project though, you never know, this could be the one.

I never intended to imply that length was everything.

The writing world is a very competitive business, so of course quality is naturally most important. I stated the figure about the Fellowship because to me, if I do complete the Army of Ten, it will be a personal achievement for myself.

'Tolkien was an inspiration to me and I wrote a book longer than he wrote ? Kick ass!'

Basically how that works.

So no I am not offended.

You still fucking owe me a copy of your first book signed from RV Survivor, I'd actually read it and give you positive feedback if you weren't a cunt and sent it, I'm only a province over. Fuck, give it to Phenom, he can drop it off when he comes to Queen City.

Sure.

'Army of Ten' is merely a subtitle for starters.

The actual title is 'The Fall of Mahgus: Army of Ten'.

The genre of the novel is high fantasy, epic in length and inspired by authors such as Steven Erikson and R. Scott Bakker.

It is written in a mature tone suitable for an older and well read audience.

The story is written from different perspectives, though Eduran is the main character and the plot mainly revolves around him.

A very brief synopsis:

Fathenras. An ancient land whose halls tell many tales of great kings and generals, wars and wizards, blood and battle. But a devouring force of intellect and deceit bring its demise, as Tzanrielle take all that she desires.

Eduran is a young man in a desperate town stricken by hunger from tax increases in recent years. He accompanies his older stepbrother Lowbe on a search for any kind of food that may help their family survive through the winter. They find their way into a valley that is said to be cursed, and Eduran witnesses things that could only be of his imagination.

Runne Vaghenrelle is a former Knight who is accused of destroying his own men, a prisoner in a castle he only sought to protect. But chance plays in his favour as he finds himself released by an unlikely authority. Fortune turns against him as he finds himself in between darker dealings than those of lords and kings.

Lord General Lyonoadas is a man of great reputation as his Second Imperial Army had proven itself time and again. He feels disgraced with having his duties reduced to occupying a kingdom that was as desolate as Fathenras had become. He decides to take things into his own hands as he deceives the people he was chosen to rule over, trading their tax dollars for soldiers of their own blood. He amasses the largest army any have seen in years, and his power becomes feared by all.

not my style... what demograpic are you mainly aiming for? old people or children or teenagers or what?

fantasy can really be a bit of a nerdy book genre...
