The revolution

...The Revolution...
A revolution will sweep through hip hop. Set to change the game forever. So throw away the tired lyrics. The played rhymes. Your potential is tapped. It's all about freedom now. The freedom of possibilities. Of opportunity. The freedom to control your fate. The freedom to play your game, your way. The Revolution is upon us. Spark...the revolution... Pad and pen my company, horizon ahead beauty lays in wait// Thoughts connect in my mind at an amazin' rate// But my hand is motionless, the pearls of wisdom blocked for eternity// I begin...like...'Study your mistakes, everyone wants a turn at me'// ...I rip out the page, flies in the wind I'm stuck again, the paper now on a sidewalk// New York City Block, footsteps of homo sapien livestock// The paper clings to a mans shoes...into the cab, 'Madison Square'// He tells the driver, Knicks not in the playoffs, no longer rare// Paper stays in the cab, next passenger trips, opening his briefcase contents// Black man just recovering from some slurs and race comments// Shoves his office work back into the brief case, along with the paper// Gives directions to his house, the scene resumes there a little bit later// Walks into his house, hugs his wife and two children// His back aches, telling his lifemate that the boss killed him// Today, the wife rubs his back, a paper hangs from his briefcase// His youngest takes it to his room, his play center and his grief place// Reads the scribbled rhymes, mind expands or just a little loosen// Just a few words sparked the revolution// <> Spark the revolution, the pad the pen// Visions of greatness, never sad again// One mic, one pencil one single thought// Creativity in your mind everytime you drop// -- Young man grown, now sixteen with a girlfriend// Laughs about his younger years, I could take the world then// He writes everyday, past experiences he's been brought through// It's his only love...won't let him rap? He's got too// Suicidal? Maybe, if he didn't grasp lead and ink// Seems happy on the outside, but I'd dread to think// If he didn't find his catalyst, made him a creator// Finding that one piece of scribbled out paper// Wrote simple text, now is the best lyricist, can't read these// He doesn't know, because he's too poor to buy rap cds// Life's in shambles, life? Easily bred contempt// Raps are his lifeline...so there's no lead exempt// No real friendship, maybe in life he took the wrong course// Thinking about crime, it was his last resort// He's already read the scribbled rhymes, mind's status? loosen// His internal pain sparked the revolution// <> Spark the revolution, the pad the pen// Visions of greatness, never sad again// One mic, one pencil one single thought// Creativity in your mind everytime you drop// -- Drizzlin' rain, off in the distance lightning strikes// Women crying, men don't cry but they fighting frights// Reverend blessing a young man, one of his bethren// Rest in peace, better days in your own heaven// The reverend leaves, weeping worsens, skin of the thickest kind// Could be torn, no one to blame, no man or wicked mind// Soon, one by one everyone is gone, the young man's dead eyes closed// Bullet holes hidden, hit by crossfire like devil worshippers, load// Of emotions spill, on his chest is a book, sign of the times// The cover is light brown and torn, in gold letter it says 'Rhymes'// He lays in eternal rest, no thoughts, cannot be loosen// But at the moment he died, he saw that I sparked his revolution... |
