i'm pretty new to making beats myself. i use ejay hiphop 5 to make my beats. it's pretty good software imo, but i guess alot of people don't like it.

Most beginners start out on Fruity loops. Theres plenty of info in the help thread at the top of the page about this. there are also plenty of threads asking this same exact question.
