Share your fond memories...

Share moments in your life that basically changed your outlook on life, either for better or for worse. Here is mine, written for school:

No, this is not the tale of when I was trying to play Scorpion King after seeing the movie and ended up lighting my pants and my backyard ablaze, but another story relating to a similar topic. This story is not the most touching thing, mostly because I wouldn’t touch the conflict in this situation.
It started when I was about ten, still mourning about the fire that had ruined a nice pair of khaki pants and left burn marks all over my backyard, when I was in my living room. Kneeling on the rug, I remember we didn’t have cable back then and didn’t get it until a year or so later. Some show was playing in the background while I stretched my very knowledge to its limit as I tried to solve an ancient and complicated puzzle. The instructions stretched before me, detailing how to put together my newest Bioncle toy, because back then those were the epitome of awesomeness, and if you didn’t have one of them then you may as well have been a brick wall. Except, of course, in that day and age even walls got more attention than Bioncle-less children.
A fire raged behind our house, as we were burning trash because basically we were too lazy to wait until Thursday for the garbage man. This story takes place when I’m trying to understand what piece to fit into my newest toy, around the circle of dirt we used to burn unnecessary items.
My friend had decided earlier to rummage through my dressers, and located a pair of blue baseball socks I had worn when I played for the Blue Jays earlier in the year. Since I am generous beyond belief, I allowed him to pursue his lack of fashion by allowing him to put on the socks with his raggedy clothes. Honestly, no one really cared how they looked in the summer, but I wasn’t going to be the one wearing baseball socks with a pair of jean shorts and a white tee.
This part is vital to the story because his fashion sense happened to be clogged at the time, and his choices were reflected in his actions.
Well, so here I am around halfway through my model when I hear the screech of a banshee and a fireball charges up the stairs of my back porch into the laundry room. I had decided to get something to drink, and by only a degree a second my head rotated until it faced my brother tackling this ball of flame. My glass overflowed and milk spilled at my feet, and I decided to finish up and put the glass in the sink. I leaned against the doorframe, seeing this ball of fire charging around my backyard. Yes, this was my friend, with his decision to jump over a pile of burning trash. Yes, we were all daredevils at that age, daring enough to jump over fires or even oblivious to the world enough to wear baseball socks with casual clothes. Man, I still can’t get over that.
He has the presence to stop, drop, and roll; of course, his mind must’ve exploded because my friend had decided to rise once more and run around on fire. Here I was with a milk moustache, staring as my brother chased a boy on fire around my house. I think we finally managed to do something like throw him in the adjacent lake or just stomp on him with our shoes until he was back to normal. All that had been damaged was his leg, and get this: the source of the damage was one of my baseball socks. If he had not been wearing them, third degree burns would not be there, and if he had just taken off some of his clothes he would not have been in the hospital for half the year.
We ended up consoling him by saying it didn’t look serious --- my brother was about fifteen and I was around eleven, so what did we know? We walked him to his house, and then when we were going back I was about ran over by his mom speeding over to the hospital in her White Mustang.
How did this change my life? Well, for one, I lost my baseball socks. Also, we ended up getting sued because he caught himself on fire, in our yard. Is that justice served, or just the legal system toying over their Bioncles and not paying attention? Anyway, I knew I was laughing, because he almost caught our house on fire too, and the very idea cracked me up. Doubtless, he would’ve tried to sue us if he caught our house on fire, but that’s the way it works. Maybe someday I’m going to run headfirst into someone’s car and shatter their windshield with my skull, and sue them because I know our fine and just legal system will see me through to suing people for being hurt for their own actions.
God I love America.

I rewrote it so it's shorter and more to the point, but I'm still bored.
