Midtown/VA Highlands Atlanta - $350k-550k will probably get you an older style bungalow. They look tiny from the outside. No garage, maybe a carport.
Suburbs - Outside the perimeter / 285 loop. 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 garages, mostly homes built in the 80s, start at $130k. Larger 4500 sq ft houses with 3 garages should be around $500k in the Lawrenceville/Duluth area near the Mall of Georgia. If you go inside the perimeter, it's about double what a similar house costs outside. Basically the farther you head out, the cheaper the prices. Upper Class - You can live next to Braves and Falcons players at the Sugarloaf Country Club starting at $1 million and up. Lower Class - Would living out in the middle of Georgia with the rednecks be considered lower class? With home prices starting to cool off, I'm starting to think about buying a house but not really sure if I want to live way out in the suburbs with families all around or intown with the younger crowd.
