Empty BEATS
IP: 4D62 B819
i've been makin beats for a few months now and i've noticed a problem with each of my beats . .
go to http://www.soundclick.com/FARSONN and listen to my beats . . . notice something? they all sound "empty" like they're missing something and they dont have that professional sound that most producers (even on the net) have . . i know this is a hard question to answer, but i wanna know how to make my beats more "full" and sound more professional it's hard to explain, but if anyone can share some advice, tips, experiences, whatever, it would really help |

Give some free beats and I'll tell you
lol Well my computer is fucked up right now and I can't listen to streaming audios but I can listen to MP3's on soundclick and right now I'm listening to "False Eyes" and you gotta fix up that melody in tha chorus part cuz tha pianos and shit are all fucking out of tune and shit. And when you say full sound I'm thinking you mean tha quality of tha beat and not tha beat itself??? You could try loading all your samples into a sound editor such as Cool Edit Pro and edit tha sounds individually or load tha whole beat in Cool Edit Pro and mess around with it and shit and try using different effects on it to make it sound better... |

its empty because your not incorporating other instruments into the track.... there should be other instruments(not required) to support and sometimes go against the flow of the main melody...
.... http://www.xkwest.com/xbeatm3us/crutches_xkwest.m3u here's an example of an old beat i did months back.... basic combo of piano and strings.... notice how the strings flow at a slow pace with the piano... and also notice... how the flute is doing its own thing... it doesn't flow perfectly with the piano or the strings... . . the best way to learn is to experiment... . throw a sax, xylophone, cello, violin, basoon, glockenspeil, or whatever into the mix... test to see if flows right... fuck with it... . . you just gotta paint the beat you want... unlike a painter unable to erase... you have the ability to put instruments through what i call an "audition"...... peace.... http://www.xkwest.com |

re: what other people said. it's all good advice.
to make your beats more dynamic try spreadin out the ranges, in other words if your bass, drums, melody, strings, etc are all med range then the beats gonna sound flat. try shiftin sum of the instruments up/down a key. find a good equalizer plug-in. i use the same one on pretty much every track to get the most out of every sound. can't remember the name thou, i'll get back to you on that.
