The Man That They Call Drone
IP:
The man that they call drone
Can I say, if I may about a man drone Working and laboring listening to an eerie tone Covered in a stench and sweat that will chill your very bone Never seeing never being never left alone Oppression isn't present in this world of ours But if you look beyond your eyes, beyond the brightest stars A world you'll see so grimace that will steal your very soul You’ll see a land of man of many strands, holding like a stone. Debts, dues, and deadlines, screech across the land Side roads and cross roads, holding a life within their hand An envelope filled with green and greed to keep the schedule whole Paid in praise to count their days, never knowing what they stole. Lines of dread across the dust, going on into the night Kept after by the watchful dogs destroying free thought on site A single man speaks aloud about what he thinks is true He was dead before he hit the sand, and replaced by someone new Armies of men and child for this monarchy they fight Upon his pedestal dictating what is right But in his eye he sees afar a man in which he knew The man he left upon the sand, come back to reign anew. After the battle, the flames were spread and ash was all around Men were lost and men were dead where very few stood ground Of those few, the man he saw the one he hoped had drowned Lead those men into the night to break the tyrants down. Breaking down those many beasts, bringing them to the floor The Dictator no more answers beats upon his door Behind the walls of the tower tall, upon his majesty’s throne The very man that freed the land, the man that they called drone. by Jacob Lister |
