i'm 24yrs. old and i still call my mother mommy.don't laugh.

Mommy I know there were times when giving up crossed your mind
I could tell,thats when you prayed hardest instead of whipping my behind
I was trouble from the gate,i mean the day I was born
Daddy said I wasn't his,i was the object of his scorn
As time past bye,i became too much to bear
That was the time I felt nobody cared
I ran away from you-sorry,I know that was a mistake
But know in your heart it was one that i had to make
i learned love,respect,hate,and fear
fought for stares,even though just the thought was weird
missed you,yes but comin' home was a no
I was young man misguided,always on the go
Dropped out of school i didn't see the point
Not realizin' i was a fool and you i would disappoint
but 4 years later you can be proud of me mah
I got two cars,my own place and a beatiful little child
never been incarcerated,or shot tho' yes i've been stabbed
and when the phones rings and you answer i try my best to make you laugh
see i realize now that what i missed wasn't the house in the end
it was you being my mother and overall best friend.

mommy,i love you and i'm sorry for making you cry and worry about me for all those years.you raised a fighter.this world ain't got what it takes to keep me down and that's all thanks to you,and sorry for droppin' out of school too.I know that really hurt you but i still made up for it.The only reason i survived all that time as a kid on his own is because you gave me the basics and raised a champ.last but not least now that i'm grown i'm happy we can be best friends.It's really like a dream come true.

Liked it. Thought it was a good message. If it's true, than all the better. Rhyming was good, choppy, but since this is poetry and not a rap, I definetely felt it fit. Nice.
