4:20 suspensions.

On 420, (national weed smoking day of course).. my highschool set up cameras in the houses behind the school facing smokers corner. Since it's a catholic high school, there normally isn't any video surveillance on the premises. The school did not post any signs or provide any information of any kind informing the students that they were being filmed...Hence the reason about 40 people out on smokers corner (which is off school property i may add..) got suspended.
My question is... Is it even legal to film people without providing adequate information that there are cameras nearby? Is that not invasion of privacy? Lastly, would a school have the power to suspend a student for something they did off school property? Discuss.
