Jurassic 5 Back Again July 25th For Some "Feedback" May 28, 2006 by Styles Pure Hip Hop is still alive and well on the West Coast as the skillful group of MC's known as The Jurassic 5 prepare to release their album "Feedback" on Interscope Records July 25th! Known for their teamwork and harmonic rhymes as well as their ability to take rap outside of the so-called "norm" the Jurassic 5 is teaming up with the Dave Matthews Band for their first single "Work It Out." Even the reliable commercial friendly multi-platinum producer Scott Storch attempts to stretch his range with a jamaican/ska influenced track for the group. What else can we expect from the album? "Look for some sonic boom beats. A broader sound from us yet at the same time staying true to the J5 stylez", says Akil, one of the group's cornerstones. As for today's rap fans, Akil further states, "We are trying to get people to open their minds. Our goal is to always do something fresh and different. That's the principle for hip hop." When asked about artists and groups from Los Angeles that have dared to steer clear of the more traditional gangsta sound and just concentrate on making music, Akil had this to say: "I grew up in South Central L.A. And have been around hoods my whole life, but this (performing in J5) has been an outlet away from gangbangin'. We did hip hop to get away from that life. Plus its more fun just being creative and making good hip hop music." Look for more on The Jurassic 5 and their new upcoming album "Feedback" here on West Coast Rydaz. |
